DIY Marble Charger on Hallmark's Home and Family

DIY Marble Charger on Hallmark’s Home and Family

I just love marble!! Since we moved to a new house, I have been completely obsessed with home decor, and I am seeing marble everywhere. You know I am a sucker for a tablescape, and when setting a table, chargers make a huge difference. Chargers, aka a plate for a plate, are a great way to add color, texture, and design to your table. Real marble is insanely expensive, so I created these beautiful gold and marble chargers using wood circles, contact paper, and gold foil! I think they are gorgeous, and they are so easy to make.

This was my latest craft for The Hallmark Channel’s Home and Family Show. If you missed the original air date, it will rerun on Monday February 27, 2017 at noon (check you listings though).

Supplies: Wooden circles Pencil Marble contact paper X-Acto Knive or scissors Gold Foil paper plus Transfer adhesive White paint and paint brush

Directions: *Place the wooden circle on the backside of the contact paper; place on a cutting board *Trace the circle with the X-acto knife to cut out the circle shape *If you do not have an X-acto knife, then trace the circle with the pencil and cut out with scissors *Paint the bottom and sides of the wooden circle and allow to dry completely *Peel away the back of the contact paper and attach it to the unpainted side of the wooden circle *If there is any excess paper over the edges of the circle, use a scissor to trim it off *Press with your hands to make sure the contact paper adheres to the wooden circle *Create a circle with the transfer adhesive along the border of the circle by using a paint brush *Allow it to dry for a couple hours (or according to the directions on the transfer adhesive) until it is sticky, and place the gold foil paper on top of the adhesive *Make sure the gold has stuck onto the adhesive, and peel away
